Report: Home buyers negotiating the best deals in Vero Beach
For the second consecutive month, home buyers are negotiating the best deals in the country in Vero Beach. According to Seattle-based Zillow.com’s Real Estate Market Report, buyers in the Vero Beach metropolitan statistical area negotiated 8.9 percent, or a median $20,974, off a home’s listing price in August. In the prior month, the report said buyers in the Vero Beach area paid 10.2 percent, or a median $23,500, less than a home’s listing price.
The region ranked No. 1 on the list in July and August.
The Port St. Lucie metropolitan statistical area, which includes Martin County, came in 29th on the August list compared to 19th in July. Buyers there were able to negotiate 5.1 percent, or a median $8,933 off the listing price in August. In July, buyers negotiated 5.7 percent off a listing price, for a median savings of $10,289.
Zillow.com is an online real estate community for homeowners, buyers, sellers and real estate professionals.
The Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan statistical area, which includes Broward and Palm Beach counties, came in seventh on the list, with buyers shaving 7 percent less off the listing price, a total of $17,586. In Brevard County, home buyers were able to cut 6.2 percent, or $11,138 off a home’s listing price.
Citing lower inventory levels, the report on Zillow.com said home shoppers nationwide had less buying power in August than July, negotiating 3 percent off the last listing price of a home compared to the 3.3 percent in July. That’s a discount of $6,525, compared to $7,018 in July.
The report had eight Florida regions taking the top 10 slots for having the most home buying power in the nation.
